Disclaimer:
Our posts are our individual opinions. We may not always agree with each other. Comments are the opinions of the comment author. Links are our choice, but do not necessarily reflect our opinion. We often link to articles, sites and blogs with which we disagree. We try to look at all sides, but the fact that we're human makes it impossible for us to view anything completely objectively.
We reserve the right to delete or edit any comments involving ad hominum attacks. It is also our policy to delete comment spam, no matter how creatively it is done.
Site-Essential Privacy Notice
This privacy statement discloses the privacy practices for Site-Essential.
Blog E-mail
The policy here is to not print e-mail or names of e-mailers on the blog unless given permission. If you send me a link, let me know if I may use your name. Likewise with comments (let me know if I can use them and if I can use your name). Unless told otherwise (yes I do keep track), I'll assume permission after an initial one is given.
The exception is... if you are also a blogger, I will assume I can print your comment, use your name and link your blog, unless you tell me otherwise. Since most of us are link-whores, I doubt that will cause any trouble!
Information Collection and Use
Site-Essential and its various contributing author's and artists will not use, sell, share, or rent information collected on this site to others except as specified in this policy .
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive, or contained temporarily in memory, containing information about the user. Except on the forums, and for CSS preferences, this site does not use any cookies. 'Change the site' (CSS) cookies are used only to store your site 'look' preferences. Forum cookies are used only to allow you to save your preferences and username/password. These cookies will not be used to track you.
We may use advertisers who use cookies or web-bugs. We have no access to, or control over, these cookies. If you disable or delete cookies, you will still be able to use the site without problems.
Log Files
We use IP addresses to analyse trends, administer the site, track user’s movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information. This site will not make any attempt to connect any IP address with personally identifiable information. We are interested in this information only to find how many unique visitors we have, which of our areas are the most popular, and from where we get visitors.
Other Information which may be collected
You may, at your discretion, sign up for newsletters and other things of this nature, if we decide to offer them. In this case, we will ask you to provide an e-mail address. We will not sell, rent, or give out these e-mail addresses, nor use them ourselves for anything except the newsletters and to notify you if our privacy policy changes, or our site is about to change hands .
If you contact us through direct e-mail or a comment form in which you put your e-mail address, that address will be used by the person to whom you directed it, only to reply to you.
Sharing
We will share aggregated demographic information with our business partners and sponsors , and among ourselves (site authors and artists). Basically this is the information we mentioned above. We will not share e-mail addresses unless that is demanded of us by legal authorities. If we ever get big enough for someone to buy us out, we will transfer addresses for newsletters and suchlike to them; however, we will notify you in advance, send you the URL to their privacy policy, and allow you to opt out before any such transfers occur.
Third Parties and Outside Links
We may use third parties to collect moneys for items sold on our site. These parties have their own privacy policies, for which we are not responsible. We are signed up with these ourselves, so if you see anything you dislike in their policy, we'd appreciate a comment (as their policy might have changed since we signed up with them).
Although we do not use banner ads, we may allow advertising and make use of sites which give us commissions on items purchased, click-throughs, or pay for a sponsor ad. Again, these sites do have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their policies.
This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we at Site-Essential are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites.
We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected on this Web site.
Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post notice of those changes on our homepage so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users for whom we have an e-mail address by e-mail. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. Unless we are given specific permission to use information in the new manner, we will use information only in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
Security
This website takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. At present we only collect e-mail addresses if you choose to give them in order to get site updates, newsletters or answers to questions. We will not sell, rent, share or use addresses to spam you.
The authors and artists on this site may sell their services, and may acquire some information in the process of performing services. Again, the information will not be sold, rented, given away (except if the law requires it).
Warning
This site has forums. If you choose to post your e-mail address on them, in a message, that address will be available to the public, and may become a target for spam. We will not be responsible if you post your address, or any other personal information, in these areas. We would advise you not to post your address or other information in public.
