26 November, 2001: "Daily Pentagon briefing"By Kathy Kinsley I'm listening to the briefing right now, and wondering when the reporters will give up asking questions they know won't be answered. I think Rumsfeld is much more patient than I would ever be. Maybe the reporters should all be given a handout of the daily briefing which says in large letters at the top: "No we are not going to discuss our battle plans with you. Quit asking!"

You have to feel sorry for the reporters who draw Pentagon briefing duty. The war correspondents in the field get all the glory while they're reduced to hoping that Rumsfeld will either lose his cool (Big, big news!), inadvertantly give up some classified information (big news), or use a word like "eviscerate" (filed away for possible future news).
