Trying to reason with hurricane season (yet again)

Ack. (As of this posting, there’s a large bullseye on my area.) Update: As of 5am EDT, Oct 19, it is a category 5 (not expected to stay a category 5 - we hope they are right).

[update2] Quote of the day: “Looks like we’re not even going to get the chance to be wiped out by the bird flu.” From Florida Cracker.

  1. Ack, indeed. And then it wants to come up and beat on the East Coast.

We’re delicate up here. We can’t handle this weather like y’all can.

  2. Ack is an understatement. Just remember, if you need to bug out, and want to get waaay away, give a yell

  3. The millennium bug was much over hype as a threat ; now will the avian flu prove to be an over scare?

Hurricanes however are real and proven to be hazardous to your health.

  4. At least our earthquakes sneak up on us. Don’t know what we would do in California with a week’s warning. Evacuation would never work here.

  5. Funny that the greasy pate Ray Nagin wants to quickly revive New Orleans in favor of the gambling indsutry. Can that city ever be made safe from future hurricanes, (really)? Perhaps more US dwellings on the whole should’ve been made of bricks, not wood. Build on higher ground with monsoon drain like in Asian countries. Yeah, how far can you effectively evacuate? Traffic jams(grid locks), fuel shortage and all seems to represent limited viability.

  6. Keeping an eye on things as it heads your way. Alpha just formed too. This sucks.

  7. Nagin’s pate on CNN seems to be mostly unsightly smeared with thick grease most of the time. ;) Good auspice? Perhaps Alpha may bring enough water to finally wash it off.
