  1. The French and the Francophiles have no sense of humor. They never have. I could get a group of Germans, Dutch, and Brits into stitches at a party. But the French, no way.

    You know, they really are unhappy people. Inferiority complexes are hard to treat. The end of France’s delusions of current grandeur has come. I don’t expect them to be much happier, now.
