Iraq is not about America any more.
(I linked the blog that quoted it rather than the article because it’s yet another of those ‘registration required sites. And because that one piece of the quote was what caught my eye.)
Yanno, I’m really glad someone in the media has figured out that Iraq isn’t about America anymore. (It really hasn’t ever been, from the point of view of Iraqis. ) And I’m very proud to be a member of one of the countries that freed them to have a point of view not dictated by someone else. But it really isn’t about us anymore (the ‘us’ including US, UK, Aus, Poland, Italy, Thailand, Japan, Mongolia, etc). Yes, what we do should be reported, it’s a good thing to know. But the story is not about us. It’s about Iraq. We are only part of the story. And it’s kind of nice that at least one person in the media gets that. The ones that don’t should get out of Baghdad and go report on fashion shows in Paris.
