Although I disagree with much of the article, the last lines are a classic. (Or, more accurately, a parody of one..).
The Vietnam/Iraq babble is, from any point of view, a busted flush. It’s no good. It’s a stiff. It’s passed on. It has ceased to be. It’s joined the choir invisible. It’s turned up its toes. It’s gone. It’s an ex-analogy.
Note that I was also against the Vietnam war (as it was being not-quite-fought at the time). But my reasons were entirely different from Hitchen’s. I don’t like the idea of fighting wars we aren’t allowed to win. (And yes, I do still have some serious reservations about Iraq for the same reason. But I now have hopes that the Iraqis will take care of it themselves. )
Hat tip to Tim Blair.
