I have heard that Harry was attending a bad taste costume contest. That is, you were supposed to wear something jejune, tasteless, and/or beyond the pale. That Harry wore the Nazi uniform knowing full well the implications, the message he was sending. He knew what he was doing.
But would that fact stop the carping now going on? Like Hell.
There’s too much fun to be had in being snarky re this issue. And there’s always our infamous reluctance to own up to our errors (see my post above).
It’ll pass and be forgotten. All it really shows is our tendency to short-sightedness and vindictive behavior.
