Another brilliant article from VDH. But honestly, how high a level of outrage can a citizen maintain? There is no END to what we should and do feel outraged about since 9/11: Islamic terrorism, open borders, illegal immigration, judicial activism, a radical left media, both domestic and foreign anti-Americanism, George Soros, Michael Moore and Jimmy Carter, Dan Rather, a growing anti Christian movement in the US, a growing world anti-Semites, nuclear proliferation by crazies, corrupt thieves of the UN, Rwanda, Palestinian goals of destroying Israel, illegal and dead people voting, gay marriage. And that’s just off the top of my head! There aren’t enough hours in the day to maintain the appropriate level of outrage without our blood-pressure rising to the dangerous levels. What’s a poor lone democracy to do?
Good question (although I fail to be interested in being outraged about a few of those). From Stuck-in-CA, commenting on LGF. The article referred to is The Disenchanted American. Recommended reading.

This sort of touches something in me: much of what people want to see outrage in I no longer do. I focus on the really big issues and the rest–like the extraordinarily trivial Armstrong Williams flap or gay marriage–are things I simply set aside for people with more energy to burn to have their outrage over.
