Annan wonders where are the people?
I must admit I have never seen such utter destruction, mile after mile. You wonder, where are the people?,” said Annan on Friday on his return to the provincial capital, Banda Aceh.
Mile after mile of utter destruction and he expects people? I think I’ll vote this one “stupidest comment of the year.” And it’s only the eighth of January.

There’s an emotion of awe and horror that (I imagine) goes with seeing the desolate sight of lots of destroyed human habitation and no people. My guess is that Kofi wasn’t expressing a lack of knowledge about where the people are – he was expressing this emotion.

Perhaps… but I don’t think so. Although I hope you are right.
I really think he was expecting mobs of people below.

I think Kofi was expressing what appears clearly to be the most politically correct(and potentially profitable) emotion, not fogetting. He’s largely all-mouth. I think he should win that Fiskie from the LGF poll.
