Earthquake-Tsunami relief.

The Command Post has an extensive set of links to relief organizations that are taking donations. There is also now a Earthquake-Tsunami blog, which has extensive links for those who are looking for people or looking to help.

By the way, to those who think America is being too stingy… please note that, for some reason, it’s always only the US government’s contribution that gets noticed. Check out the total collected for the American Red Cross just through Amazon. Admittedly, some of those donations may not be from Americans but it’s likely that most are. And that is just ONE site.

  1. Egeland should’ve gotten a rotten egg on his face but the Viking weenie quickly recanted. Did he shoot off his mouth also so to please Kofi?

  2. The Elitist, global tax promoting crapweaselist probably had to have someone from the UN public relations office explain the negative connotations of his comments to him.

Then, instead of saying he was wrong…he took the “out of context/ misinterpreted” position despite exact quotes and video. I tend to think the whole issue was related to the fact that Mr. Under ‘the’ Secretary doesn’t have a handle on his job, and spoke out in frustration without knowing the facts…Most upper level management in the UN has no idea how their own departments operate.

Incidentally, Kathy, after the initial wave of aid hits those affected, you might consider having some of your contacts in the region identify specific families who could benefit from direct donations et al. I think bloggers might be up for something like that…What do you think?

  3. I’ve already sent out requests for such info, IR. Also to let me know if any locals put out calls (local charities, hospitals, etc.) that we could help with. I know they are calling for emergency clothing at the moment… but they need it yesterday so it would be too late by the time we could get something over there. The locals that weren’t affected are best for that.

  4. You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all different. Adventure - circa 1975 (approx)

If $34 Million is “stingy", then let’s take it back and use it to good effect here at home. Why spend it on a bunch of ungrateful Muslims in some distant land?

  5. Vulgorilla:
    1)Adventure, which inspired Zork
2)Because it was some snotty UN rep that said we were stingy, not the countries involved, and even more because we aren’t that kind of people. I hope.
