[update 4:50am] Looks like it has turned north and is finally starting to weaken. TV is showing it starting to break up a little bit. 5am: National hurricane center saying Category 2. [update] Now Category 1.
The wind gusts woke me up (quite a bit stronger than those of last night), so I’m back. We are getting tropical storm force winds at the moment. As I write, the eye is over Okechobee county. The 3am advisory still has it moving west. They said it has wobbled a little north but they aren’t sure it’s a turn. I’ll be checking on my fellow hurricane bloggers and updating this post.
Me update. Accuweather.com is now reporting wind gusts of up to 74mph for my area. Sounds like hurricane force to me. No wonder I’ve been seeing roof shingles flying off again.
If anyone else is awake and wants to chat, I can get on AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, or IRC. Just leave a comment or send an email.
I’ll be putting updates in the extended entry as this may get a bit long.
Deb at DebWire went to sleep shortly before I got up. She’s near Tampa, and probably seeing about the same conditions I am at the moment. She’s hoping to find her roof and power still there when she awakes. I hope she does too! [update] She’s awake and has both roof and power.
Eye of the Storm has a fascinating pair of photos up, one of Jeanne just before landfall and the other of Frances at the same point. Yikes. Nothing like kicking people when they are down…
Florida Cracker has some more incredible pictures, updating on her last post. (Check the one of the condo, especially. Waves. Sheesh! )
Tammi, once Road Warrior Survival, has changed her blog name to Hurricane Warrior Survival. Can’t say I blame her. She was reporting power flickers around 1am and hasn’t updated since so her power may be off now (or she may just be trying to get some sleep). [update] Laughing Wolf reports she has power but no internet access. Good to hear she’s ok.
Noble Pundit took off for some shut-eye . Return promised if cable and power are still on upon awakening. (Hope they are.) [update] Awake again, and blogging!

Still here; still with power. We’re on the northern edge of the tropical storm winds. Blogging has resumed for now.
I’m awake again — still with power.
Hope you’re doing okay up there, Kathy!
Doing ok though we’ve still got tropical storm winds. Despite the pleas from officials to “stay inside”, I’m starting to see more people out and about. I’ve been seeing some traffic ever since I got up but I’m seeing more now. The Sunday paper even got delivered.
Crazy. I wouldn’t drive in this for anything less than a life or death emergency.
Tammi is up, has power, no internet. Reports she once again has waterfront property, but is okay. Will be posting updates from her at my site and in the comments at her site.
Thanks, LW!
..glad everyone`s doing okay..

Those of us here in North Texas, who are hopin’ to get a bit of needed rain as the vestiges of Ivan move through sometime soon, are prayin’ for ya’ll there in the hard hit areas.
My night was horrible. At times the wind blew so hard I could see ripples in the surface of my perfect Chopin Martini with three queen olives.
You didn’t lose an olive now did you?

Hurricane Jeanne Blogging Starts
Well, for those tracking Jeanne, Boudicca has posts here, here, and here. Tammi is blogging a bit too, and Kathy has up a list of Florida bloggers and hurricane resources. I must confess, I love Val’s message to Jeanne. More…
One Night Stand
She came. She blew me. She left. I think her name was Jeanne….
