We’ve been getting little squalls and somewhat gusty winds. Almost all of our roof tarps have come off. They got loosened a bit when Ivan went by but stayed. They got more loosened when Ivan came back (as unnamed remnants). These little wind gusts are evidently the last straw, even though they aren’t that strong. Trying to get overworked roofers to replace tarps when another hurricane is headed your way is an exercise in futility (and they do have a point).
Weatherblog is predicting landfall around midnight, and between Melbourne and Fort Pierce.
Noble Pundit is much closer than I, and updating regularly. He’s tornado blogging again, too.
Florida Cracker is getting the real squalls (not just the outer edge I’m seeing) and has some great pictures up from her local news.
Babalu blog has a message for Jeanne. I’m not sure I’d phrase it that way. No sense in tempting fate…
Boudicca’s Voice is already seeing hurricane force gusts and is surprised to still have power. (Last post about 20 minutes ago as I write).
Andrea has a pre-hurricane headache and knows her plans for the weekend.
Y’all go check on these people too. I can’t keep up with all of them by myself. My list is right here. Leave a comment. Believe me, it’s nice to know people are thinking about you when you’re going through one of mother nature’s bellicose rampages…
I’ll be adding to the stuff above as I click around, so check here too.
