DC PR Firm Claims Credit for Rathergate
That’s a link to Little Green Footballs, one of those who broke the story. The PR firm is claiming to have worked with CNS News (probably true), Media Research Center (who are they?) and a number of bloggers. Charles says:
Please note: no one from this public relations firm ever contacted me; I have never even read the Cybercast News Service article to which they refer. Spelling it out explicitly: LGF has never been in contact with Creative Response Concepts, in any way, at any time. I’m not very pleased that they would try to send such a message, while claiming credit for breaking the story.
I would suspect that “not very pleased” is a bit of an understatement. I’d love to know which bloggers this PR firm claims to have ‘communicated with’. I’d also like to add, that if they want to communicate with me and ask me to push a story, they can stuff it or buy a blogad. Their choice.
[update] The Blogfather is also unamused, and uncontacted.
[update 2] At least the CRC is quick to react. They’ve issued a statement. Seems to be something of an apology.

Media Research Center is a right-leaning media-bias group run by Brent Bozell.
Sort of a Media Matters for the right, but been around a lot longer.
