Iraqi footballers.

One of the things about freedom is that it includes freedom to diss the people who freed you. And I’m free to root for Australia in today’s game. (Even if the way I phrased that makes Aussies snicker…)

[update] MommaBear pointed out (in the comments) an Iraqi blogger who knows something of the three people quoted in that article. His post makes a lot of sense. I’d also like to point out that Iraqis aren’t all of a kind, any more than Americans are. I get a bit irritable at those (on either side) who assume that because one Iraqi says “this is the way I feel” that all Iraqis feel the same. They’re people, yanno. Just like us. Good, bad, indifferent… And I may have been rooting for Aus., but I’m still glad Iraq won. ;)

    [UPDATE] I had just finished pouring out my ire when I see a link in Kathy’s comments to IraqTheModel, with a more restrained view, suggesting that the reports were slanted by the reporters with cherry-picked comments. He may well be…
