I’ve managed to get on via dialup, but we still have no power so I’m using my (OLD) laptop. We’ve (my little 4-plex) got a generator now, borrowed from someone who did get power back. Unfortunately, it’s not a big generator, and so we’re using it mostly for necessities like refrigerator (we are running one, and everyone is using it) and fans in each apt. So I can sneak a recharge only when I can be fairly certain I’m not overloading things.
Seems I was lucky enough to be in one of the worst-hit areas of Cape Coral for power. They are hoping to get us back up by Thursday. Sigh. At least we have water for cold showers. That has helped considerably. We’ve taken in some people who had no water or power, so we are a bit crowded hereabouts but we are managing.
I’d like to apologize for delays in work that I’ve been doing, I’ll get it all done ASAP once I get my real computer up. I’d also like to thank everyone who has (or will) hit the tip jar. Between the truck and all the extra hurricane expenses, and being unable to work online, I really can use the help.
I will have pictures (local color, I took all of them within walking distance) but I don’t have a decent picture editor on the laptop, so they’ll have to wait a bit.
I’ll wade through all the e-mail ASAP, and get back to everyone who has written. Best wishes to anyone else who was in the swath of devastation… believe me, I know what you are going through!

Welcome back. It may still be a jury rigged approach to getting online, but it does indicate progress. Hopefully, your life, and the lives of those around you, will be back to something close to normal soon.
Hang in there! And welcome back even if on a limited basis. Glad you are okay, and all best wishes are headed your way.
Welcome back!
Welcome back, K. It’s good to see that got through it all in one piece. Hang in there.
Welcome back and a big “Thanks” to MommaBear for keeping your fans up to date as to your plight.

Kathy Is Back
Sort Of. Go read this now and then go hit the tip jar or give her some work. This is a chance to help one of our own, so go do it! Kathy, glad you are okay and all best…
Trying To Reason With Hurricane Season
Kathy Kinsley is back in business, although just barely. Hurricanes and high tech don’t mix well.
And, while I’m at it: Can anyone explain to me why places that get hit by hurricanes SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR don’t bury their power lines?
