Almost anything can be used as a weapon. Training, knowledge and intent are the real weapons. Everything else is just a force-multiplier.
Remember that, people. If that message gets through to just one person in a position to do something, many lives could be saved. Training is very helpful, but even without training, knowledge and intent can often be enough. Remember the story I linked long ago about the guy who used a loaf of bread as a weapon. Look around you, get creative, find at least 5 things within reach that you could use as a ‘force multiplier’. I’ll bet you’ll surprise yourself. Learn to think that way all the time and you’ll never be defenseless.

If you are talking about weapons, unobtrusive ones, a ball pen too is deadly.

Ah. Then what about a pair of chopsticks?

(I happened to be eating with those when I noticed the comment…).

OK. That’s it. No more breadsticks on aeroplanes. Or chopsticks. Or pens for that matter. You will have to do the crossword in crayon
The real problem is that it is almost impossible to manage the training/knowledge/intent side but it is easier to “ban” the obvious multipliers.
